What makes the PEP Project Different?
- Trainings on topics related to special education
are provided during "Family Gatherings"
- regular events that are fun, friendly, and welcoming,
and include free meals for the entire family.
- Trainings are slower paced, allowing for plenty
of discussion, questions, and one-on-one support.
- All materials are translated into the participants'
native language. Often the topics will be presented
in dual languages, for example, in both English
and Spanish, so that all family members are able
to participate and understand.
In addition to providing training on topics related
to special education, the PEP Project also provides:
- "Saturday in the Park" trainings (family-friendly
events in outdoor settings).
- A Mentor Program for helping family members to
become active in local and/or state committees or
councils.
- Trainings on accessing and utilizing the internet.
- Training and assistance on strategies for reaching
typically underserved populations.
locales/estatales.
- Entrenamiento para el acceso del Internet.
- Entrenamientos y asistencia sobre las estrategias
para asistir/servir a las áreas típicamente
minoritaria.
